How Does an External Ultrasonic Liquid Level Meter Work?

The principle behind an external ultrasonic liquid level meter is ingenious yet straightforward. It uses ultrasonic waves. The sensor, attached to the tank wall, emits a high-frequency acoustic pulse. This pulse travels through the tank wall, into the liquid, and is reflected back.

The sensor precisely measures the time delay of the returning echo. Since the speed of sound in the material is known, the device can accurately calculate the distance to the liquid surface, providing a real-time level reading. This non-invasive technology ensures high accuracy without ever touching the medium, making it a versatile and reliable choice.
