Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), the main components are propane and a small amount of butane. LPG is stored in liquid storage tanks under appropriate pressure and temperature. In the refining process of petrochemical industry, we often encounter the liquid level measurement of liquefied gas LPG spherical tank, but he liquefied degree of LPG is greatly affected by temperature and pressure changes, the traditional liquid level measuring instrument often cannot accurately measure the liquid level.
For LPG storage tank, liquid level gauge is an indispensable part. The requirements of liquid level gauge for LPG storage tank can be divided into general requirements and installation requirements:
General requirements for liquid level gauges for LPG storage tanks
1. Selecting according to the medium, maximum allowable working pressure and temperature of LPG storage tank.
2. Before installation and use, LPG storage tanks with a design pressure less than 10MPa shall be subject to a hydraulic test of 1.5 times the nominal pressure of the level gauge, and LPG storage tanks with a design pressure greater than or equal to 10MPa shall be subject to a hydraulic test of 1.25 times the nominal pressure of the level gauge.
3. Anti frost liquid level gauge shall be selected for LPG storage tank storing media below 0 ℃.
4. The liquid level gauge used outdoors in cold areas shall be of jacketed or insulated structure.
5. The liquid level gauge on the LPG storage tank of liquefied gas, which is used for explosive, extremely toxic and highly hazardous media, shall be equipped with a protective device to prevent leakage.
6. Float (standard) type liquid level gauge is not allowed if the liquid level indication is required to be stable,.
Installation requirements of liquid level gauge for LPG storage tank:
The liquid level gauge should be installed at a position convenient for observation, otherwise other auxiliary facilities should be added. Large LPG storage tanks shall also have centralized control facilities and alarm devices. The maximum and minimum safe liquid levels on the liquid level gauge shall be clearly marked.
External ultrasonic liquid level gauge is a non-contact liquid level gauge with ultrasonic measurement technology. Without opening holes, the ultrasonic probe can be measured by sticking it to the bottom of the storage tank. The pressure in the container is unlimited. It can measure flammable, explosive and highly corrosive medium. It is easy to install and does not need to be stopped by fire. It is a safe, convenient and stable choice for liquid level measurement of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage tanks.
